the many upcoming Earth Day events for which we've received notices - if you are
planning on attending any events and wish to help distribute CT NOFA materials,
please call the office at 203-888-5146. It also contains a few other
events/notices received in the last week.
Volunteers wanted - help plan and hold on-farm workshops. Possible
topics include CSA's and greenhouse management. Call the office to offer
your farm, expertise or helping hands. Thanks!
Do you have seedlings for sale? We've been receiving calls looking
for organic vegetable seedlings. If you have them for sale at your farm,
farm stand or farmers' market, please let us know and we'll post a list on the
website.
Vegetable waste for composting - clean, sorted vegetable waste for
composting is available from Food Share. Available year-round in
aproximately 1000# totes, it can be picked up at the Regional Market in
Hartford. Call Steve Slipchinsky at 860-286-9999 x 134 for more details.

Recent Additions to Upcoming Events
Beekeeping Event & Farmers Market at Whole Foods Westport - Sunday, April
27th, 10:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Our event called "Hometown Honey" will
feature taste of honey from local apiaries. Jim Clinton of Farm River
Honey will be giving a workshop on Basic Beekeeping at 1:00 PM in our Discovery
Room. Also participating at our event will be the Global Affairs Club of
Staples High School - Westport who will be selling local honey provided by Red
Bee Honey (Wilton) to support their fund raising efforts for Heifer
International. They will be providing information about the latest phenomenon
called Colony Collapse Disorder. Limited seating: please call to reserve
203-227-6858. Also seeking vendors for a Monday Farmers Market - call
Carolyn Falco at the same phone number for more information.
"Green" Flea Market - opening Saturday, April 26, 2008 in
Bethlehem, Connecticut. This is being promoted as a "Green" Market
and food vendors are encouraged to sell non GMO's and organic foods. Visit

Fitchburg
Art Museum exhibit "Art in Bloom" - April 25 - 27, 2008 in
Fitchburg, MA. Events include a presentation on organic gardening and
design by NOFA's own Donald Bishop; as well as a talk on mushroom
foraging; and 5 more speakers, encompassing a variety of subjects. We are
inviting interested people to digitally submit photos of garden
vistas, garden sculpture, floral compositions, etc, to be shown as a slideshow
- loop during the 3 day event. (no people or pets, please ). E-mail photographs

Old Style Life Skills Workshops - April 12, 10:30-1:30, "Get Your
Goat" involves visiting Rachel Gall and her backyard goats in Cornwall
Bridge, CT. Discussion will include care, feeding, fencing, and how to get
started. Cost is $35/family. Bring a dish to share for a pot-luck lunch and be
prepared for a real hands-on experience. Please pre-register
