One-acre Certified Naturally Grown vegetable farm in Northford, CT seeks farm manager for 2015. Position requires managing all aspects of organic crop production, including crop planning, planting, harvesting, marketing, hoophouse production, and cover cropping. The farm manager will be responsible for supervising staff and volunteers, coordinating two farmers markets, helping to create a budget and possibly expanding wholesale accounts. Tractor skills are a plus. Interpersonal/communication skills a necessity. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Housing in a 1780 farmhouse is an option. 9/16/14   Experienced Farm Manager Wanted – Gravity Hill Farm, an established organic vegetable farm located in Hopewell Township, N.J. is looking for a farm manager with at least 5 years experience, including 2 years in a managerial role, and who is looking to settle in our community for a minimum of 3 years.  The farm currently has approximately 6 acres under cultivation (3 season vegetables plus strawberries and raspberries) with additional acreage for rotation and/or expansion.  The farm is also developing a mushroom and hydroponic facility for year-production. Distribution is primarily retail, on farm and off. Core to the farm is a strong educational and community outreach element and we would expect the manager to be supportive of those goals. Responsibilities include broad execution of the farm business plan, including field and tractor work (tractor experience a must) and managing up to 6 full and part time staff.
