SJ 193, the resolution to put the CT Environmental Rights Amendment on the ballot to go into our state constitution, is now on the Senate calendar! Featured Program
CT NOFA is proud to be a Core Partner in the Northeast Transition to Organic Partnership Program. This community agreement is sponsored by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service and will continue through October of 2027. CT NOFA is currently recruiting:
- Mentor farmers who have operated certified organic farms for at least three years that are interested in assisting mentee farmers as they transition their farms for certification.
- Farmers looking to transition to organic: if you are operating a farm and would like the assistance of an experienced organic farmer during your transition to organic we welcome you to join our group of mentee farmers.
- Partner organizations which wish to help grow the program
- Technical experts who are interested in helping provide guidance on specific topics, skills, or areas of interest to farmers who are transitioning to organic methods
Winter Conference
Each February, CT NOFA holds our signature event, the Winter Conference, featuring the Bill Duesing Organic Living on the Earth Award, our annual meeting, and a keynote address. Also included are over 20 workshops on farming, seed saving, organic land care, community food security, social justice issues, and more. The conference also includes farmer circles – peer learning communities for farmers interested in discussing a particular topic in an informal, supportive environment.
Resources
CT NOFA features unique, in-depth and actionable resources for experienced farmers, farmers just starting out, and for gardeners of all backgrounds and skill levels. Resources include bespoke CT NOFA offerings and publications from our partners in Connecticut and beyond. Additionally, find the Organic Farm Stand, Digging in the Dirt and NOFA podcasts are available in one convenient location. Finally, CT NOFA members can post a free classified listing as a member benefit.
